Dental check-up and consultation in Chandragiri
A dental check-up is the visit that decides every other visit. The dentist examines your teeth, gums, tongue and bite, takes an X-ray if something needs looking at below the surface, then explains what is going on in plain language. That includes the part most people actually want to know: whether a problem needs treating now, can safely wait, or does not need treating at all. A check-up is also the cheapest dentistry there is, because nearly everything in a mouth is easier and less invasive to fix early. A cavity caught at the enamel stage is a small filling; the same cavity two years later can be a root canal and a crown. For most adults with no symptoms, once a year is a reasonable interval, and more often if you smoke, have had gum disease, or are midway through orthodontic treatment.

When do you need this treatment?
- You have not had your teeth looked at in over a year
- Something feels different, a rough edge, a sensitive spot, bleeding when you brush
- You want a second opinion on treatment you have been quoted elsewhere
- You are about to start braces, implants or any long treatment
What happens during your visit?
- 1Examination of teeth, gums, tongue and bite
- 2Digital X-ray if the problem is below the surface
- 3A clear explanation of what was found, with the options for each finding
- 4A written plan and order of priority, so you know what to do first
What happens if you leave it untreated?
Skipping check-ups does not cause problems by itself. It removes the chance to catch them while they are small and cheap. Decay and gum disease are both painless in their early stages, which is exactly why they are usually found at a routine examination rather than reported by the patient.
What is recovery like?
There is nothing to recover from. A check-up involves no anaesthetic and no drilling, and you can eat normally straight afterwards. If a scaling is done in the same visit, gums may feel tender for a day.
General guidance only. Your own recovery depends on your case, and the dentist treating you will tell you what to expect.
Questions you might have
Dental Check-up & Consultation
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Once a year suits most adults with healthy teeth and gums. Six-monthly is usually advised if you smoke, have had gum disease, get frequent cavities, or wear braces. The dentist will tell you which applies to you rather than putting everyone on the same interval.
Will I need an X-ray at every visit?
No. X-rays are taken when there is a specific reason: pain with no visible cause, checking between teeth where decay hides, assessing bone level in gum disease, or planning a root canal, extraction or implant. A routine check-up with no findings usually needs none.
Can I get a check-up without committing to treatment?
Yes. A check-up is a diagnosis, not a contract. You get told what was found and what the options cost, and the decision is yours. There is no charge for asking questions about a treatment plan afterwards.
